Createx 4011 and 4021 Reducers: Createx offers two outstanding reducers that are compatible with all of their colors: 4011 and 4021. 4011 is the workhorse of Createx reducers. It is compatible across the board with all Createx colors. 4021 Reducer was introduced in 2024. It’s mixing ratios and recommended uses are the same as 4011. 4021 Reducer has a slower evaporation rate compared to 4011 Reducer, which improves the paint’s blending and leveling, for a more consistent color coat without texture. Over-reducing Createx paints with 4021 Reducer helps blend colors for smooth transitions and detailed airbrush lines without a stippled pattern, much more compared to thinning with 4011 Reducer. If you have to choose one, I recommend 4021, but I use both interchangeably.

4004 and 5090 Transparent Bases: Transparent bases are like paint with no pigment (clear paint). 4004 is intended for use with Wicked Colors. Transparent bases can be used alone like a seal coat or mixed in the paint to make the colors more transparent. I use them to seal the edges of frisket and tape masks before applying color to help prevent color bleed-through under the edge of the mask.

- 4004 Transparent Base is a transparent resin base to Wicked Colors. It appears milky in solution and dries to a clear finish. Add 4004 in any ratio to Wicked Colors to extend paint for increased transparency without lessening the resin load, for example use 4004 Transparent Base to greatly extend colors for rock or wood stain colors. Adding 4004 to colors allows them to be extended to a weak tint strength of the color without affecting adhesion.
- 5090 Transparent Base is intended for use with Illustration Colors. 4021 Reducer has a slower evaporation rate compared to 4011 Reducer, which improves the paint’s blending and leveling, for a more consistent color coat without texture.
